API SL category has stricter requirements to oil aging resistance (the extended change interval) than API SJ and adds anti-oxidant properties ensuring the viscosity stability during some time; prevents formation of deposits in the crankcase; increases detergent and dispersive properties. The improved synthetic base limits volatility, ensures a very high lubricating property, which reduces friction in the engine and efficiently counteracts high temperatures in modern engines.
